Escape to a four star country hotel for three days of needle felting, relaxation and being surrounded by liked minded creatives. You will have the space to unwind, learn new skills and make friends.

Please read all the terms and conditions of booking, agreeing to pay confirms you have read them. There are only 10 spaces so please do book early to secure a place.

On this course I will be teaching how to needle felt a long coated hare and we will have the enviable pleasure of Mikaela Bartlett joining us for an afternoon. Mikaela will talk us through how she does fur planting and will give two small group sessions demonstrating her technique up close and personal. We will also have a trip to the amazing new World of Wool shop and the chance to use all the hotels facilities including a spa and swimming pool.

You will have your own double room with ensuite, all materials will be provided including an exclusive tote bag and you will also be given full access to my online hare course when you leave. There is one twin room available at the hotel if you wish to share so do book early to secure that room if needed.

Breakfast, lunch and all teas and coffees are included in the price. DINNER IS NOT but there is a beautiful restaurant in the hotel which we will probably all use together. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements so we can inform the hotel early.

The venue is Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort just outside of Leeds nestled in landscaped gardens. There is free parking and we have a lovely workshop room with a view over the estate. I plan to swim most nights so bring a costume and you are welcome to book any extra treatments at their spa.

Level of experience required - I believe it would be best that you have tried some wire armature before attending in order to get the most from your time. I don’t think we will fully complete our hares in the time we have but I will ensure you have the knowledge before you leave. You will also have my online course to guide you to once you return home.

ITINERARY - To be firmed up but this is a rough idea.

Sunday 4th October 3pm - Arrive and book into the hotel, get settled in and then meet in our workshop room for an afternoon session learning how to do armature for your hare and to start wrapping the body. Dinner and then swimming or relaxing.

Monday 9.30am - After a lovely breakfast continue with our base and getting the body firmed up and starting the paws. Lunch around midday and then an afternoon session with Mikaela Bartlett learning how to do long fur on the hare body. Dinner and relaxing or you are welcome to continue working on your hare.

Tuesday 9.30am - Continue fur planting, learn about how to do the head and ears, that is the plan for the day to try and progress as far as we can with our creations. Lunch around midday and dinner at 6pm.

Wednesday 10am - Leave for a trip to World Of Wool for some shopping after checking out of the hotel. Hopefully we will have enough cars to help with anyone who isn’t driving. I will have three spaces in mine. The retreat will finish at World Of Wool, you are welcome to miss this part out if you so wish.

The hare we will be creating is about 6 to 8 inches high and ears on top and he/she will be in a sitting position with long fur. I have included some examples of my hares and it will be a combination of these styles. I plan to start creating it next month if you would like to see the finished creation before attending.

Cost: £695 Per Person (this is a double bed with ensuite). This covers your room, food, (EXCEPT DINNER), teas, coffees, biscuits, all materials and tuition, use of swimming pool, spa treatments are extra. £150 non refundable deposit required to secure your space. Rest of payment is required 8 weeks prior to the event.

Cost for a twin room: £565 Per Person (this has two separate beds with ensuite). There is only one twin room available so book early to secure. This is if you have someone you wish to share a room with. This covers your room, food, (EXCEPT DINNER), teas, coffees, biscuits, all materials and tuition, use of swimming pool, spa treatments are extra. £150 non refundable deposit required to secure your space. Rest of payment is required 8 weeks prior to the event.

CANCELLATION POLICY : The deposit is non refundable and non transferable, final payment is due 8 weeks prior to the event. An email will be sent to you asking for the final sum and you will have 7 days in which to pay the final amount. Once the balance has been paid, it is non refundable. If you do have to cancel after this I will endeavour to resell your space. If I am successful, you will receive 95% of your booking back, 5 % will be retained for costs.
